description	Manganese ore occurs mainly as pyrolusite (MnO2) and rhodochrosite (MnCO3) at grades greater than 20% Mn. The ore is beneficiated via crushing, screening and separation before being directly shipped to be used in blast furnaces for steel manufacture. Manganese ore is also used in fertiliser manufacture, for batteries as manganese dioxide and as paint pigments without needing to be reduced to elemental manganese.
